101 Reasons Why I'm Glad I Wear Hijab is a funny and refreshing look at why so many Muslim women ACTUALLY enjoy wearing "hijab" (the "veil", "scarf", "Muslim headdress").

101 Reasons? Are you serious?

Born and raised in the U.S. (in, like, the Valley), my decision to wear the hijab ("the scarf") came at age 20 after much soul searching. Since then, I've had 101 Reasons why I'm glad I did so. Having not worn it for a big part of my life made me appreciate the differences in my life afterwards. Yes, many women are forced to wear the "hijab", especially in countries wear it is the law, but even more women choose to wear it (all around the world), even against odds, and view it as a liberation rather than an oppression. Many people cannot understand how hijab can be liberating, or self-chosen, and this is a humorous illustration of how and why it is. These (reasons) are cute little truths for so many "hijabis" (women who wear the scarf); in fact, a lot of my "hijabi" friends bust out laughing! I think this book will be an affirmation of how many of us feel, as well as a peek into our world for everyone else.
